The J12 was launched in 2000, under the direction of Jacques Helleu, then artistic director of Chanel. He wanted to create a timeless, sporty, and elegant watch, inspired by two worlds he was passionate about: car racing and sailing. The name “J12” actually refers to the J-class yachts used in the America's Cup regattas in the 1930s.
